Every year, more and more theme parks add seasonal events to their lineups. One of these events which continues to become more popular each year is theme park holiday events.
Six Flags and SeaWorld have had tremendous success with their holiday events. This year, for the first time, a Cedar Fair park will join in and host their own holiday event with WinterFest at California’s Great America.
For five weeks this year, California’s Great America will host their WinterFest holiday event. Weekend operation will begin on November 25th and there will also be daily operations on December 19th-23rd along with December 26th-30th. The park is currently the only major Californian park not open for the holidays.
The park is going to have a vast array of unique decorations and attractions for the event in addition to 18 of the park’s rides. Gold Striker, Carousel Columbia, Star Tower, much of Planet Snoopy, and more will be operating. Decorations will include 100 trees, seven different lighted areas, a light show on the midway, the Charlie Brown tree lot, and a reindeer petting station.
The park will also feature a number of different entertainment options. There will be a tree lighting ceremony, a trolley, a Snoopy Ice Show, and a Santa’s Elves show.
Along with the Peanuts characters which have a home at the Cedar Fair parks, Frosty the Snowman, Jack Frost, the Gingerbread man, Scrooge, and more characters will be at the park.
The event will be free for Gold and Platinum passholders.
