Today, Six Flags announced a new Virtual Reality Roller Coaster Experience will be coming to several of their parks. That VR experience is the new “Rage of the Gargoyles” VR Coaster, which will take VR Coasters and add a unique element to them!

That unique element is the addition of gaming to the ride. Guests will be able to use the VR headsets to help save the world from the gargoyles.

This new Virtual Reality Experience will be coming to several Six Flags parks. Most notably, the experience will be coming to Six Flags Great America on “The Demon” roller coaster, “Skull Mountain” at Six Flags Great Adventure, and Six Flags Discovery Kingdom on the “Kong” roller coaster. For those three parks, this will be the first VR experience on their roller coasters.

Rage of the Gargoyles will also be used on several roller coasters that are currently using “The New Revolution” VR Experience. These coasters are “Dare Devil Dive” at Six Flags over Georgia, “Goliath” at La Ronde, “Ninja” at Six Flags St. Louis, and “Steamin’ Demon” at The Great Escape.

It is currently unknown when the new VR experience will debut at many of these parks, but we do know when it will open at Six Flags Great America. On August 13th, the park will open the ride to the general public after a special preview for owners of Samsung Phones and Six Flags passholders.

Earlier this year, Six Flags Great America announced a VR Experience for their “Raging Bull” roller coaster, but it seems this is what they’ve decided to do instead. In my opinion, it is smart for them to put VR on a less popular coaster because it takes a long time to load the trains with VR, so the park may not want to use their largest coaster for a VR ride.

Both members of the TP&T team have had the chance to ride Six Flags’s existing VR coasters and we have nothing but positive things to say about the ride experience itself. The only concern is with capacity. You can take a look at our reviews of “The New Revolution VR Coaster” and “Superman VR Coaster.”
