For a long time, it has been a rumor that Six Flags would expand across the world to China. In 2014, the theme park chain announced they’re finally expanding to the country.
In a partnership with the Riverside Investment Group, the operator is bringing a park to the ever growing theme park market. They’re one of several theme park chains building across the country. Other notable parks include those from the Wanda Group, Disney, and Universal.
Situated in Haiyan, China, the $4.5 Billion park and surrounding developments officially broke ground today. Set to open in 2019, the park will feature family attractions, thrilling coasters, and even “world class” shows. Certain sections of the park will be themed to Chinese culture.
The first phase of the project is set to open this fall with a welcome center coming to the park.
