The New Revolution Virtual Reality Coaster – Review / Overview

Yesterday I was lucky enough to experience The New Revolution with Virtual Reality for the Season Pass holder Preview days. No this is not an April Fools day joke I just wanted to write a review on The New Revolution pretty badly after experiencing it because I was blown away!

My first impressions after entering the park were great! The new paint really sticks out through the trees and it looks really good. A lot of us didn’t like the blue paint at first but it definitely grew on me and I love it! It’s crazy how the new paint makes this almost 45 year old ride look brand new!

Then when I saw the new trains… *Drools. The New Trains look absolutely stunning! The color red they used looks amazing.

Here’s a better picture of the new trains. As you can see they cut down a bit of trees but they didn’t cut all of them down which I love because the last time they cut down a lot of the trees for something new I wasn’t a happy camper. *cough cough Full Throttle cough cough*

Also if you look at the pictures you’ll notice nobody was in the front seat. That’s because the front seats are reserved for people who opt out of using VR.

Here’s some of the new flowers in the planters by the Carousel and the Helpful Honda Express. It’s not that shabby at this part of the park now!

Now getting on to the ride:

When you first enter the queue you’re greeted by these signs which I really love.

This used to be the old “La Revolucion” entrance and it’s currently being used for the decent maze “Chupacabra”. It looks a little weird in the sudden change in paint but I can get over it.

Fun Fact in the 1983 movie “National Lampoons Vacation” That’s where they get arrested in front of.

Leading up to the Bridge there are some more of these cool signs. This is the plane you fly in the VR movie / game. Also notice at the bottom left it says “SF6-MM” I thought that was funny.

When you get on the bridge you’ll notice that the line is now 3 different spaces. The far left lane will be the ADA line, Middle lane will be for the public, and as for the far right lane I can only guess it’s the flash pass lane.

When you get to the front of the line you get your VR head set, you put it on, and the employees choose the place you sit. There’s me trying to calibrate the thing :P.

Looking down from the queue you can see where the water fall used to be. Since there’s a really bad drought going on here in California, Magic Mountain opted to fill in the Water Fall and put some nice landscaping.

Now for the Coaster review. I loved this Coaster! The VR perfectly synced with the track and made it feel like an entirely new ride. You’re Diving through falling buildings, shooting targets, and flying under cranes and ships it’s an all around crazy experience. I highly recommend using VR when riding this Coaster you will not be let down. I honestly prefer this to any Universal Simulator i’ve been on. And I imagine other VR Coasters like Superman Krypton Coaster and Superman the Ride are so much better.

As for the Coaster its self with out VR it was very nostalgic. This was my first looping Coaster i’ve ever been on and it’s a true classic. I was stunned by how smooth the ride was and after only experiencing it with those horrible over the shoulder restraints i’m glad to have finally experienced this ride the way it was meant to be in the first place

I give the ride an 8/10. It was smooth, the loop was forceful, and with the VR it was even better.

If you live in the South California area and want to experience this ride there’s still slots for ride time available just go on to Six Flags Magic Mountain’s website and register. For parents reading this Children under 13 can not use the VR head set when riding.
