As several theme parks shoot up in Dubai, 20th Century Fox announced that they will be creating a new theme park in the growing city! This park will be a partnership between Fox and the Al Ahli Holding Group.

The park is set to open in 2018 as Fox’s second theme park. The first one will be opening in Malaysia as a joint venture with Resorts World Genting in 2017.

At a cost of $850 million, the park will include several attractions themed to some of the company’s most popular franchises. There will be rides themed to Rio, Ice Age, Titanic, Night at the Museum, Aliens, and Planet of the Apes.

Perhaps the most interesting feature in the park is the presence of The Simpsons. The franchise can be found within two of Universal’s theme parks in the United States and does not appear to be featured within Fox’s Malaysia park. It is definitely surprising that it is part of the Dubai park.

A notable Fox property not included in the park is Avatar, which will become a key component of Disney’s Animal Kingdom park in 2017. It was Fox’s most successful movie ever.

In addition to the theme park, the complex will feature a hotel and shops for tourists to enjoy. This park definitely sounds like it will be an awesome one, but based on other recently proposed parks and the now delayed Malaysia park, I am skeptic of the likelihood of this park to open on time (if at all). Even though I’m skeptical, I hope that it will open. The more parks, the better, as long as they can find enough market to remain successful.
